Organized by the Sugbu Chinese Heritage Museum team, the event aimed to showcase the rich tapestry of Chinese-Cebuano heritage and underscored the museum's commitment to preservation and promotion.
Under the banner of "My Beloved Bisaya," the event celebrated the life and legacy of Pedro Gotiaoco, the museum's namesake. Immersive theater performances brought Gotiaoco's journey to life, tracing his path from China to his impactful presence in Cebu. Actors from Kulturang Sugbuanon meticulously characterized and interacted with guests, creating an engaging and educational experience. The event distinguished itself through the immersive theater performances entitled "My Beloved Pedro," which blurred the lines between audience and performer, allowing guests to become active participants in Gotiaoco's life narrative based on stories from the Book of Go.
Additionally, a cosplay competition with the theme of Sugbu Chinese Heritage offered a vibrant display of Chinese culture, with participants showcasing creativity and artistry. There were three winners: Grand Winner, Best in Fantasy Costume, and Best Historical/Cultural Costume. Notable judges from the fields of fashion, cosplay, and the arts were invited. The inclusion of a raffle draw after the cosplay competition further added to the festive atmosphere of the night.
The inclusion of a life-size photo booth further immersed attendees in the historical context, providing memorable photo opportunities and enhancing the overall experience. The museum brought to life the legacy of Pedro Gotiaoco, highlighting his enduring impact as a business icon and a proud son of the Visayas.
A notable total of 3,594 visitors attended the event, engaging deeply with exhibits, performances, and interactive elements. Demographic insights revealed a diverse audience, reflecting the event's broad appeal.
